People who live in big cities many times have stressful living and working environments. Many jobs are sedentary, such as sitting in an office chair in front of a computer screen all day! Then the individual gets in the car, rushes home, and starts fixing dinner. After that, time to plop down in front of the TV! Not an optimum fitness program, to say the least! However, there are different strategies to use for staying fit while living in the city.
One such trick is to always use the stairs, rather than the elevator, in a multi-story building. Ever walked up a flight of stairs, or two, and found yourself breathing hard? Walking up stairs increases heart and respiration rates, a good start for exercise. Many cities now have “greenbelts” and parks, with running and cycling paths. A little light jogging or walking through nature can be a good improvised fitness program. Invest in a bicycle, and you can begin your cardio/aerobic exercise routine! Many cities also have inexpensive health and fitness clubs to join. You may even have a YMCA nearby, and they have everything you need for your big city fitness program. Start your new exercise program today!
